Teaching english vocabulary to sixth grade of primary through total physical response method at Villa Alemania Fe y Alegria school of El Alto city

Abstract

The purpose of the present work is to develop and apply a curriculum design to teach English language where the Total Physical Response or TPR was chosen as a main method. This project was devoted to children from sixth grade of primary at Villa Alemania Fe y Alegria School, and it is divided in five chapters. Firstly, the Chapter number one describes the characteristics of the institution where this project was applied. It means a brief history of the school, its organization, and needs which were the central points to develop our objectives. The second Chapter refers to the Proposal Section where the justification, objectives, and theoretical reference are explained. The theoretical framework not only takes into account the characteristics of curriculum design, but also considers Total Physical Response concepts. The third Chapter or the Proposal Development describes the activities sequence of our work. Likewise, in this section concepts of lesson planning and some examples of them are developed. Moreover, some experiences are described taking into account some weaknesses and strengths along the application of our project. The fourth Chapter shows the evaluation and results during and after the course. Then, this chapter presents students improvements and their difficulties.
