dc.description.abstractThe present Guided Work deals with the Translation of academic- legal documents from English into Spanish and from Spanish into English and, the development of a terminology for the automatic translation of university diplomas. The work was carried out in the Centro de Enseñanza y Traducción de Idiomas (CETI) at the Linguistics and Languages Department of the Mayor de San Andres University (UMSA). In the translation process, specific procedures and linguistic knowledge were applied. Thus, the structure of this report consists of 5 chapters. A brief description of each of them is given in the following paragraphs. Chapter one has to do with the Identity of the Translation Center. On the one hand, this includes the organization which comprises the background, the objectives, the mission and vision and the organic structure of the CETI and; on the other hand, the needs of support which covers the analysis of the problems and the identification of the needs. Chapter two refers to the Work Proposal which comprises the theoretical support, justification, objectives, indicators, strategy of action and plan of action. Consequently, chapter three describes the Development of the Proposal. It consists of the work schedule, the sequence of activities, the achievement and the experiences. Within the sequence of activities, five stages are identified: reading and analysis of the text, translation of the first drafts, revision, edition, and collection of words for the glossary. On the other hand, the achievements embrace the analysis of translations, development of the bilingual terminology of diplomas and the implementation of the computer system Sistratu for the automatic translation of academic diplomas. Chapter four comprises the Results of the proposal. And finally, chapter five deals with Conclusions and Recommendations. Keywords: Translation, terminology, Machine Translation (MT)es_ES
