The present work will describe what has been done at the Bolivian News Agency (ABI) during the six-month work as part of the agreement UMSA-DNCS in order to obtain the Diploma in the English Area. It has the main objective of contributing with the spread of Bolivian News by means of translating the most important journalistic news into English and in order to put into practice all the things learnt throughout our training, especially translation techniques. The first chapter attempts to give a general overview of the work, setting the objectives and the justification of it. The second chapter presents the referential framework, the first part deals with translation issues; the second part covers the functions of the language and the last part copes with the definition of News Agency and what respects to journalism. The third chapter focuses on the method and techniques used for the development of this work, it starts showing participants and beneficiaries, work schedule, criteria of evaluation, to finally describe the steps we followed and the sources we consulted. The fifth and sixth chapter presents the conclusions and recommendations that arose from the labour experience during the period work at the Bolivian News Agency. Finally, the last chapter is the glossary we propose for future works, divided in the main areas that ABI covers daily.
